Airport TAXIS Still On Strike
As we reported in our last issue, taxi drivers at Lombok International Airport are on strike, cutting taxi services from the airport. The protests began on 26 January, 2012, when around 150 taxi drivers held a noisy protest rally at the offices of the Department of Transportation Communication and Information (Dishubkominfo) NTB and demanded an end to the DAMRI bus service.

Lombok Airport to start operating in October
Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - Lombok International Airport (BIL) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) will become operational on October 1, 2011 despite various shortcomings, an official has said. "Admittedly there are still some shortcomings but all the basic requirements and conditions for it to function have been met so that the airport can start operating on October 1, 2011," West Nusa Tenggara Information, Communication, and Transportation office chief Ridwan Syah said here on Thursday.

Government sets April deadline for Emaar
The Indonesian government has given itself time until mid-April to clear all bureaucratic obstacles to Dubai-based Emaar Properties LLC' s plan to invest Rp21 trillion (US$1.8 billion) in a vast tourism project in West Nusatenggara (NTB)' s Lombok Island, a provincial administration spokesman said.

Airport Update
A MOU of the Lombok International Airport development has been signed by HL Wiratmaja – Central Lombok Regent and Bambang Sarwoto - Directur of PT Angkasa Pura I (PT. AP I) on 15 June 2007. According to Mr. Bambang Sarwoto airport construction is planned to be finished in 2009, being fully operational by 2010.

PT Emaar contract runs for 80 years
Mataram - PT. EMAAR investment on the LTDC former land, Central Lombok enters a new stage. Both parties (PT.EMAAR and Province Government) are agreed with the terms and conditions proposed earlier. Public Relation Division Chief of NTB province Government, Manggaukang Rabba explained that the agreement between the two parties have been put in a MoU between NTB Governor, HL Serinata with the PPA (State-owned Asset Managerial Company) and PT.EMAAR.
