Lombok tourism is one of the potentials of NTB and therefore it is not considered exaggerating if President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Yusuf Kalla expect that the beauty of the nature, the uniqueness of the culture and the various tourism objects in NTB can be the main sources of regency development. Many efforts are now being conducted by the NTB Province Government to develop and increase the charm of NTB tourism. One of the efforts is the development of tourism potential on LTDC former land and now it is transformed into PPL (Lombok Tourism Development) on 1.175 hectare land located at tourism area, Kuta Central Lombok.
On the other hand, it has been planned to build various facilities and tourism accommodations like; five stars hotels and other supporting facilities. Moreover, the government is striving to realize the International Airport Development in Penujak, Central Lombok. The LTDC and the International Airport Development has become a united program to make NTB as the main tourism destination around the archipelago and even around the world. Because of that reason, the NTB Governor, Drs. HL. Serinata has formed a Team to study the development effort of the LTDC former land.
Nowadays, the Revitalization of LTDC Development Plan in Central Lombok has entered a new series. PT.EMAAR, the investor from Dubai (UEA) shows a positive response and interest on the LTDC development and intends to realize the project as a luxurious tourism. As the proof of his seriousness, this company has held several meetings with Central Government and NTB Governor. PT.EMAAR through his PPA (Asset Managerial Company) has asked for the data inventories about the land. The data asked including; map, land border and the identification of the troubled-lands.
In a meeting held in Governors meeting room (Tuesday, 24-02-2007) which was directly led by Drs. HL. Serinata together with a number of official leaders and also attended by the representative of PT. EMAAR, it was revealed that about 447 of land certificates of the 1.175 hectare are now registered as the lands owned by the people. But, the Governor is certain that all the people have already known that the lands are not belong to them. The Governor promised to do more approaches and socialization to them.
For the troubled-lands, the Governor has asked a Team to conduct dialogue with the people and to put the awareness on the first priority. The LTDC development is done for the sake of the people in the regency and for the whole people of NTB. Therefore, this serious effort done by the government should be supported by all people in order for quick realization.
